Ekohe is a web development and design firm located in Shanghai, China that specializes in custom solutions for specific needs. Although we specialize in the web , we are more than a technology company.

We have on-the-ground knowledge in Europe, North America and Asia and understand the importance of local cultural values.

Ekohe brings a wide range of experience to every project. Our varying backgrounds allow us to analyze and evaluate problems from multiple perspectives and implement the solution that is most appropriate. Here is the profile of the team members:

 

Maxime Guilbot

Maxime has 10 years of experience in graphic design and web development. He holds a Master‘s of Science in Artificial Intelligence from Shanghai Jiao Tong University(上海交通大学) and he has graduated from a top engineering school, Ecole Centrale Lille (France). At the beginning of 2007 Maxime decided that he was fed up with the cog-like atmosphere of web & software development and he founded Ekohe. Today, Maxime works as a web developer and manages Ekohe. When Maxime isn’t working, which recently, is just about never, he travels the world. Every holiday, he finds himself somewhere new to explore.

Scott Ballantyne

Scott is a web developer and designer from Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. He is quick with Photoshop, cunning with CSS, semantic with HTML and he loves Ruby on Rails. He attended the Pragmatic Studio in Minneapolis and Railsconf 2007 in Portland, OR. Scott has a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and China Studies from Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin, USA. In addition to his knowledge of the web, he has experience in market research and economics. Scott closely follows the developments of the Ruby community to leverage as much as he can out of new features as they become available.

Aaron Qian

Originally from Shanghai, China, Aaron moved to the USA at age 15, where he has lived in California for the last 10 years. Graduated from the University of California, B.S in Computer Engineering. He started his career working on Airplane Electronic Systems and then he started to develop dynamic websites in Los Angeles. Initially, when he began to program for the web he was using ASP.NET and then PHP/MySQL. Now back in Shanghai, Aaron is now rediscovering China, he loves the food and being around his family. Aaron is enjoying programming Ruby on Rails, but he still has a place in his heart for ASP.NET. He has professional experience with companies such as Panasonic, Tactara and Skyavy.

Maggie Meng

Maggie, originally from Tianjin, China, moved to Shanghai in 2002 to attend university. She graduated from Fudan University with a degree in Tourism Management. While at university, she worked as a tour guide showing people from around the world what Shanghai has to offer. After she graduated, she worked in a brand consulting company, named LabBrand. At LabBrand, she was a Naming Consultant/Project Manager and all-around go-to gal. She likes to cook, travel, read and listen to music, and she plays a mean game of badminton. She speaks Chinese, English, some French, some Japanese and some Shanghainese. She has no trouble making new friends and trying new things because of her creative-curious spirit. She enjoys volunteering for good causes. Currently she is working as a Project Coordinator for Ekohe, she makes sure that projects stay on track and on deadline.

Nini Sum

Nini is our genius designer with creative ideas and keen sense of fashion. She learned Visual Communication in her university and has more than 4 years' experience of graphic design. She has been a freelance artist for a very long time working on pencil drawings, oil pantings and sculptures, also attended some exhibitions. She loves different kind of music especially electronic, new wave and synth pop,and also did some design works like posters and CD covers for underground bands and concerts. Her dream is to be a drummer of a band and go for the worldwide tour while creating cool stuff. She also likes to meet interesting people and go to fun places wherever can bring her inspirations.

Paul Stoklosa

Paul hails originally from Poland and moved to Canada when he was 10. He earned a bachelors degree in Software Engineering and Management from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. He discovered China and Ruby a few years back and it was love at first sight. Previously he worked with PHP, J2EE, C#.Net, Visual Basic, Javascript, Haskell and Perl in startups, as a freelancer and in the enterprise. He is fluent in English and Polish. His French is rusty and he's working on his Mandarin. When he's not punding out righteous code, he does Parkour, races motorcycles and does lots and lots of pushups.

Richard Huang

Richard was born and raised in Shanghai, China. He has a Bachelor's degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and a Master's degree from Zhejiang University, both majoring in Software Engineering. While in school, he took part in several projects as an intern. After graduation, he started his career at Ouku. He is good at Java and J2EE, and enjoys other programming languages, such as Python and PHP. Currently he has a great interest in Ruby and Ruby on Rails and is happy to work in Ekohe. His health is vy important to him, recently he finished the 10km Nike Human Race 2008 and his next objective is to finish a half-marathon.

Stone Gao

Stone got his master's degree in software engineering from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Previously he worked in Solver Solution Engineering Team at Intel as a software engineer intern for one year. He has hand-on experience on C# and Ruby and Ruby on Rails. He loves to mining the web for open source, data mining, software development methodologies and software technology trends. He enjoys the feeling of turn ideas into working software and believes that exploring how things work s fun!

Rainux Luo

Rainux, a Rubyist of Vimmer originally from Chongqing, China. He loves Computer Science, Music and Sichuan cuisine. He's known about Linux & Open Source Software since he was 16, at which time he changed his name from Rain to Rainux. After familiar with Delphi & Windows programming, Rainux started his 'Back to Linux' plan, by learning Vim, bash & PHP. Now he is enjoys Debian with his good friends Vim, Zsh, GNU, coreutils, Git and Ruby on Rails.

Patrick-Jean Pichavant

Patrick-Jean is our special globe-trotter. Indeed he was born and raised in Africa, lived 3 years in Canada before going back to Europe to study. He is fluent in French and English and can also speak Spanish. After being one of Ekohe’s clients, he was impressed with our working method and our efficiency. He then decided to join the team to develop our business around the world and he is now our dedicated Sales Executive. He graduated from the University of Bedfordshire, England, with a major in Business Studies and also from the International Business School (Sup de Co) of Montpellier, France, in Business & Administration. He worked for the French Consulate in Edinburgh (Scotland) as an Economic Analyst before starting two flourishing businesses in Hong Kong, Diem Creation and BFinJobs. His bright ideas have helped us develop and improve our relationship with our customers.
